Mark Zuckerberg Donates $5 Million To Undocumented Students Scholarship!

Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg along with his wife Priscilla have donated 5 million dollars toward scholarships for undocumented students in the Bay Area. Zuckerberg announced via Facebook that he would be donating through TheDream.US, founded by former Facebook board member Donald Graham. The scholarship will benefit students in the Bay Area.

In his post Zuckerberg stated,
"America was founded as a nation of immigrants,"
he contined "We ought to welcome smart and
hardworking young people from every nation, and
to help everyone in our society achieve their full
potential. If we help more young immigrants climb
the ladder to new opportunities, then our country
will make greater progress."

This donation comes as no surprise as Zuckerberg seems to have a big heart for immigration reform. He called immigration "biggest civil rights issue of our time." The social media mogul has even started a group called Fwd.us. The group has spent millions of dollars lobbying for immigration reform in Washington, D.C.

The group Fwd.us focuses on increasing technology workers overseas, but also held a charity event for "Dreamers" in 2013. Dreamers are students who were brought into the United States illegally by their parents when they were children.

Zuckerberg and his wifes's donation will award scholarships to roughly 400 students. This will be the second donation to TheDream.US made by the couple. Last year they donated $2.5 million to the organization.
hmmmmmmmm. NICE
